Over the years of buying tickets I've learned what works and what doesn't.

9:58 …. 9:59 …. 9:59 …. 9:59 …. 10:00 a.m … REFRESH.

For those that don’t know, tickets for live events usually go on sale at 10 a.m. I’ve lost count at the number of times I’ve had my computer, phone and tablet out ready to go, only to be struck by the curse of slow internet, or sold out tickets.

After years of buying tickets (sorry to my bank account), I’ve made a list of some tips and tricks to make the ticket buying process a little bit easier.

Drumroll please …..

SARA’S (HOPEFULLY) SUPER HELPFUL LIST TO BUYING TICKETS

1. Create a Ticketmaster account: This one might seem obvious, but no detail is too small to be overlooked. Creating an account beforehand will save you time and stress. There is nothing worse than finding the perfect seats and having to waste precious minutes by creating an account. Trust me.

2. Have a payment method stored: This will save SO MUCH time! Having a payment method on file means that you are virtually clicks away from spending an evening with your favourite artist. Gone are the days of having to rush around trying to find your credit card and typing with shaking hands.

3. Presales are your friend: Presales have saved my life. Having that extra opportunity to purchase tickets before they go on sale to the general public has been my saving grace for so many shows. Presale codes are usually right under your nose – most likely the name of the album, or artist. Although, sometimes they are harder to figure out (I’m looking at you, Harry Styles).

4. Budget: This has to be one of the MOST important tips on my list. If you are going to an event with a friend please make sure you discuss a cap price beforehand. There is no worse feeling than finding great seats but not being able to pull the trigger because you’re not sure if your friend will want to spend that much. It’s an important convo to have! Additionally, make sure that you know what kind of seats you want.

5. Check for additional dates: If you have had trouble finding tickets to a concert, don’t immediately go to a third part seller site. More often than not, an additional date will be added if there is high demand. In the small chance that an additional date has not been added, then go to a third part site like Stub Hub or Seat Geek.

Hopefully S(H)SHLTBT (thought I would short form the title … let me know in my fan mail section if it rolls of the tongue) helps you buy tickets in the future!

Good luck and I’ll see you around the arena sometime!
